Awareness: The Third Core Soul Element That Generates Ethics & Consideration

Awareness generates Ethics and Consideration

“Awareness is the light that allows the Soul to understand itself, others, and the consequences of every choice.”

Awareness is one of the most misunderstood words in our language.

Many people believe awareness simply means paying attention.

Being mindful.

Being alert.

Observing what is happening around us.

These are certainly expressions of awareness, but they are not Awareness itself.

Awareness is far deeper.

Awareness is one of the Core Soul Elements.

It is the third Core Soul Element, and it generates Ethics and Consideration.

Without Awareness, the Soul cannot understand how its actions affect the world around it.

Without Ethics and Consideration, wisdom cannot develop.

The Soul Continues Its Journey

As the Soul journeys through the Universe, each Core Soul Element prepares it for the next stage of growth.

The Soul first receives Honesty, generating Acceptance.

Acceptance allows the Soul to receive Patience, generating Tolerance.

Only after the Soul has learned to accept truth and tolerate its journey is it ready to receive Awareness.

This order is not accidental.

A Soul that cannot accept truth cannot truly become aware.

A Soul that cannot tolerate growth will resist understanding.

Awareness builds upon everything that came before it.

Awareness Generates Ethics

Ethics are not simply rules created by society.

They are born from understanding.

When we truly become aware of how our choices affect another living being, ethical behavior begins to arise naturally.

Ethics are not forced.

They are understood…innerstood.

The more aware we become, the more clearly we recognize that every action creates consequences.

Every word carries weight.

Every decision shapes not only our own journey, but the journeys of others as well.

Awareness transforms knowledge into wisdom.

Awareness Generates Consideration

Awareness also generates Consideration.

Consideration is seeing beyond ourselves.

It is recognizing that every person, every animal, every living being carries experiences we may never fully understand.

When Awareness grows, selfishness begins to diminish.

We naturally begin asking questions such as:

“How will this affect someone else?”

“Is this action helpful?”

“Am I acting with kindness?”

“Does this decision create harmony or suffering?”

Consideration is compassion before compassion itself has fully developed.

It is one of the stepping stones that prepares the Soul for the uniquely human Core Soul Elements still to come.

Awareness Is More Than Observation

Many people observe.

Few truly become aware.

Observation notices what happened.

Awareness asks why.

Observation sees behavior.

Awareness seeks understanding.

Observation gathers information.

Awareness transforms information into wisdom.

The difference is profound.

Awareness changes the observer as much as it changes what is observed.

Nature Reveals Awareness

Every ecosystem depends upon awareness.

Birds recognize changing seasons.

Trees respond to sunlight.

Flowers turn toward light.

The natural world continually responds to its surroundings.

Human beings possess an even greater opportunity.

We can become aware not only of our environment but also of our thoughts, emotions, intentions, and actions.

This deeper awareness allows us to choose rather than merely react.

Practicing Awareness

Awareness grows through observation without judgment.

It grows through curiosity.

It grows through honest self-reflection.

Practice asking yourself:

  • Why did I react that way?
  • What belief influenced this decision?
  • How did my actions affect others?
  • What lesson is this experience teaching me?

The goal is not self-criticism.

The goal is understanding.

Understanding creates wisdom.

Wisdom creates ethical living.

Reflection

Spend a few quiet moments considering:

  • When have I acted without awareness?
  • What experience helped me become more considerate?
  • Where can I better understand another person’s perspective?
  • What choices today will create greater harmony tomorrow?

Allow yourself to answer honestly.

Growth begins where honesty meets awareness.

A Practice for This Week

Choose one conversation each day.

Instead of preparing your response while someone else is speaking…

Simply listen.

Observe.

Seek to understand before being understood.

Notice how much more clearly you perceive the people around you when your attention is fully present.

Awareness grows through listening.

Soul Wisdom

“Awareness is the light that reveals truth, allowing the Soul to choose wisdom over reaction and consideration over selfishness.”

Continue Your Journey

Honesty allows the Soul to accept truth.

Patience allows the Soul to tolerate growth.

Awareness allows the Soul to understand.

The next Core Soul Element is Generosity, which generates Altruism.

As Awareness deepens, the Soul begins to recognize that true fulfillment is found not only in personal growth, but also in contributing to the well-being of others.

The Pause

A Soul Awareness Exercise

“Awareness begins the moment we stop reacting and start observing.”

One of the greatest challenges we face as human beings is that we experience life through our own eyes.

We hear our own thoughts.

We feel our own emotions.

We understand our own intentions.

But we rarely see ourselves the way others experience us.

This is where true Awareness begins.

Not by watching someone else…

But by learning to observe ourselves.

Step One: Replay the Moment

Close your eyes for a few moments.

Think about a recent conversation that didn’t go the way you had hoped.

Perhaps it was with your spouse.

A child.

A friend.

A coworker.

Or even a complete stranger.

Now, instead of replaying the situation through your own eyes…

Imagine floating several feet above the room.

Become an observer.

Watch the interaction as though you were watching two strangers.

Notice everything.

Your posture.

Your facial expressions.

Your tone of voice.

Your body language.

Your choice of words.

The timing of your responses.

Simply observe.

Do not judge.

Step Two: Remove the Ego

The ego is remarkably skilled at protecting itself.

It often whispers:

“I was right.”

“They deserved it.”

“If they hadn’t said that…”

“They started it.”

Awareness asks a different question.

“What was my part?”

Not because the other person was necessarily right.

But because your Soul is responsible for your choices—not theirs.

The purpose of this exercise is not to assign blame.

It is to understand yourself more clearly.

Step Three: The Pause

Before responding to any difficult situation, practice what we call “The Pause“.

Pause…

before speaking.

Pause…

before reacting.

Pause…

before allowing emotions to take control.

During that brief moment, ask yourself:

  • Is my tone calm?
  • Is my body language respectful?
  • Are my eyes communicating kindness or frustration?
  • Are my words helping or hurting?
  • Am I responding from Awareness or simply reacting?

That single pause has the power to completely change the direction of a conversation.

Step Four: Consider the Other Soul

Every person you meet is a Soul.

Every person you meet is carrying experiences you cannot see.

They have known joy.

They have known pain.

They have faced fears.

They have made mistakes.

Just as you have.

Awareness reminds us that another person’s behavior often reflects something happening within them that has nothing to do with us. Sometimes it is the very mirror of what we do not like in ourselves.

It is up to us to be able to detect what we see in others MAY be something we don’t see in ourselves.

This does not excuse harmful behavior.

But it often changes how we choose to respond.

Sometimes the greatest act of strength is refusing to add more anger to an already difficult situation.

Step Five: Rewrite the Conversation

Now replay the same conversation one more time.

Only this time…

Imagine your highest self responding.

What would change?

Would your voice become softer?

Would you ask a question instead of making an accusation?

Would you listen longer?

Would you choose different words?

Would you simply smile?

Sometimes changing only one sentence changes the entire outcome.

Remember This

There is one thing in life over which you have complete authority.

Yourself.

You cannot control another person’s reactions.

You cannot control their beliefs.

You cannot control their choices.

You cannot control the circumstances around you.

But you can choose how you respond.

Every single time.

That choice belongs to you!

Soul Wisdom

“Awareness is the space between what happens to us and how we choose to respond.”

The Pause Challenge

For the next seven days, whenever you feel yourself becoming defensive, frustrated, or angry…

Don’t respond immediately.

Take one slow breath.

Smile, if you can.

Ask yourself:

“What response would bring the greatest harmony into this moment?”

Then choose that response.

Not because someone else deserves it.

Because your Soul deserves it.
